The Last Tiziano

 Gallerie dell’Accademia - Venezia – Through April 20th, 2008

The Kunsthistorisches Museum of Vienna, collaborating with the conservation and preservation office of Venice, has done numerous researches to understand the style of the last Tiziano artistic period. Le Gallerie dell’Accademia of Venice will offer a tribute to this research with an exhibit on the great artist. The event, organized in collaboration with other museums, is divided in different sections dedicated to Tiziano’s portraits and its sacred and profane themes.


The Procession of the Mysteries

Trapani – Historic Center - March 21st, 2008 

In Trapani (Sicily) at 2 p.m. on Good Friday, “The Procession of the Mysteries”, will once again take place. The Procession, which is the longest and amongst the oldest religious procession in Italy, will continue for almost 24 hours until Saturday afternoon. The sacred “Mysteries” are statues made of cloth, wood and paste and represent scenes from the Passion of Christ. Made in the 17th and 18th centuries by local artists, the Mysteries are kept in the Church of Purgatory until the day of the procession. During the procession they are carried on the shoulders of hired bearer through the streets of the Sicilian city amongst a spectacular of light, sounds, colours and emotions for almost 24 hours. 

Veneto Jazz Winter

Veneto Region - Through April 19th, 2008

13 cities in the Veneto Region are hosting this year’s annual Veneto Jazz Winter festival from January 18th to April 19th.   A total of 19 concerts will be held in various theatres around the region by an array of world renowned international and Italian jazz musicians and artists. Jazz lovers will have the opportunity to listen to and applaud many of the best Italian jazz artists who have collaborated to form new groups, the most promising new talents, outstanding performers of contemporary American jazz and Latin jazz, and the incredible sounds from the Swedish and Belgian jazz scene.

Vinitaly International Italian Wine Exhibition






                          Verona – from April 3rd to April 7th, 2008

The 42nd edition of Vinitaly will take place in Verona from April 3rd to April 7th. This is one of the most important wine exhibitions in the world; not only for operators in the field but also for connoisseurs. There will be numerous innovative and specific events not only at the Exhibition Centre, but also at other locations around the city. In the evening, Palazza della Gran Guardia, in Piazza Bra, Vinitaly for You will be transformed into a “wine cellar” with lots of good food and music for everyone.
