Over 100 works of one of the most significant contemporary Italian artists is on display at the Museo Correr in Venice, consisting of paintings and drawings from the most important museums from all over the world, such as the MoMa and Guggenheim in New York, and the Beaubourg in Paris, amongst others.  The exhibition follows Cucchi's work from the late 1970's, when he first made his "appearance" on the international scene.  The show reveals the amazing variety and richness of his art.  Cucchi had a very keen eye, and that was evident in his work, specifically in his use of colors and brushstrokes. 

Milano Film Festival

The Milano Film Festival is the lively city's annual festival celebrating and attracting aspiring filmmakers from all over the world.  It takes place at two of Milan's most impressive venues: The Piccolo Teatro (which consists of Teatro Strehler, Teatro Grassi, and Teatro Studio at right), and the Castello Sforzesco.  Each year the festival features a special section on a particular filmmaker/s, and this year the spotlight is on the work of the Italian filmmakers Cipri' and Maresco.  Many other events, workshops, seminars and competitions go into making the festival a success.  There is even a series of concerts set aside for the screenings, so music too plays an important part in the event.  For more information on the various competitions, please consult the website.

Artelibro: The Art Book Festival

Bologna is not only the "city of art" but also the "city of art books";  This Festival is one of a kind, a cultural event, book fair, and social exhibition all in one.  Everyone from the general public "book-buyer" to publishing houses and art-book devotees alike will be at this exciting event to take part in the many activities sure to excite every type of interest.  An entire 5 days of events will be taking place, beginning with an opening ceremony, and then filled with presentations, conferences, workshops, shows and more, all touching upon the many subjects the festival will be focusing upon, such as: antique to contemporaneous art, design and architecture, fashion, furniture, cinema and photography, graphic design, children's books, antiquarian books, and much more.

Opera Under the Stars

The city of Rome will end it's summer with a wonderful event called "Opere sotto le stelle" - "OperaUnder the Stars".  These series of events which will present various contemporary operas throughout September will take place at the Grande Arena in Rome's Stadio dei Marmi.  Contemporary opera is a form that seems to be appreciated more and more by the Italians, and this presentation certainly will not disappoint.  The schedule is rich in events, with five different operas taking place which are the following: "Pia de' Tolomei", "Federico II - La danza del Falcone", "Notre Dame de Paris", "Tosca Amore Disperato" and a romantic version of Bram Stoker's "Dracula".  With rewrites and modern music, not to mention the incredible talent, these operas are not to be missed!
