 Il Palio dei Draghi

Lake Caldonazzo – Trentino Alto Adige

August 25-26, 2007

Lake Caldonazzo is the biggest lake in the Trentino Alto Adige and every year in August, the Valsugana boroughs surrounding it face off in a dragon boat race known as the Palio dei Draghi.

As a token of appreciation for Italy’s participation in the Hong Kong Festival, in 1985 Hong Kong donated an original dragon boat to Roman and Venetian rowers. This was the beginning of dragon boat competition in Italy where many replicas have since been built as the interest and participation have grown steadily over the years.
