The exhibit celebrates one of the most important artists of the Italian Renaissance, Desiderio da Settignano, who sculpted most of his work in marble. This exhibition sets out to highlight the various genres and different subjects of the artist’s work while paying homage to one of the most illustrious marble virtuosos in Florence.

During the annual event called Infiorata, the baroque town of Noto, a Unesco Heritage Site, becomes one giant floral display with every street and piazza lined with flowers in a celebration accompanied by concerts and plays. Petals of different kinds of flowers are used to create a variety of figures, often with religious, mythological or social themes.

About 600 masterpieces ranging in period from the second half of the 19th century to the early 20th century on loan from 20 national art galleries are on display in Como. The paintings represent the most important movements in Italian art: Macchiaioli, Divisionisti, Scapigliatura, the School of Posillipo, the School of Resina, the Venetian School and the Great International Masters. Among the artists on display are Giovanni Boldini, Giuseppe De Nittis and Federico Zandomeneghi.
